About Me

I am a board-certified psychiatrist and psychotherapist based in Washington, DC. In my clinical work, I utilize a psychodynamic framework that examines the relationship between your past and present. My work is grounded in facilitating insight and self-compassion to enable the changes you want to make in your life. Utilizing evidence-based medication management and psychodynamic psychotherapy, I work collaboratively with you to build emotional resilience and address your suffering.

I received my medical degree at the Edward Via College of Osteopathic Medicine in Blacksburg, VA and completed adult psychiatry residency at the University of Virginia Health System, where I was recognized for my commitment to education with both medical student and resident teaching awards. As a resident, I also engaged in the Global Health Leadership Track through UVA’s Center for Global Health and completed the Harvard School of Medicine’s Refugee Trauma and Recovery Course.

Following residency, I finished a consultation-liaison psychiatry fellowship at George Washington University and Inova Fairfax Hospital, where I was awarded Top Fellow 2022. In addition to providing care in private practice, I have experience working at innovative mental health start-ups. I have also received advanced psychotherapy training through the Washington Baltimore Center for Psychoanalysis.

As a writer and academic, I have served on the American Psychiatric Association’s Scientific Programming Committee and as a contributor to the Clinical Guidelines Writing Group on Delirium. In 2023, I was awarded a Public Health Thought Leader Fellowship through the Boston Congress of Public Health. In 2024 I was recognized as an International Fellow of the Japanese Society of Psychiatry and Neurology, presenting at their annual meeting in Sapporo, Japan. I continue to present nationally and internationally on the intersection of technology and mental health, most recently presenting at the Hong Kong College of Psychiatry’s Mental Health Congress. I am currently a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the George Washington University School of Medicine Department of Psychiatry where I teach and supervisor psychiatry residents.
